ConsultJR provided detailed electrical design and engineering services for two major quarry developments in northern NSW. Powered by 4MW of diesel generators in a parallel, stand-alone arrangement and with a range of proprietary equipment to connect and control from a centralized SCADA system, this project presented unique design challenges. ConsultJR's experience with electrical infrastructure projects requiring integration of diverse electrical, instrumentation and control systems was critical to the successful delivery of this project.
Scope of Works included:
- Detailed design of main LV switchboards and field cabinets
- Detailed design of the electrical installation
- Procurement of switchboards and supervision of the electrical installation on site
- Design interface with the PLC/SCADA subcontractor
- Integration of proprietary equipment (crushers, screens, trommel, etc) into overall electrical design
- Design of safety system for emergency stopping of crushing and conveying equipment
- Supervision of electrical installation and commissioning on site
Project highlights:
- Stand-alone power system derived from 2-off 1.6MVA and 1-off 750kVA diesel gensets at Coraki and a single 1.6MVA set at Woodburn
- 2500A Form 3b MSB and two stainless steel Form 2 field crusher MCCs at Woodburn
- 2500A Form 3b MSB, 1600A Form 3b MCC and eight stainless steel Form 1 field RIO cabinets at Coraki
- Category 2 emergency stopping system at Coraki
- Responsibility for statutory electrical engineer functions at both sites
